A beautiful afternoon in Richmond Park

My wife and I went for a walk in Richmond Park after lunch today. The light was magical. Surprisingly, there were few people about, so this spot was silent as well as stunningly lit. It's said that Elizabeth Ist (and her court) hunted here. I've no idea if that's true but the place had such a strong other-worldly quality about it in the autumnal sunshine that I wouldn't have been totally surprised to see a pack of mounted Tudor horsemen and women come crashing through the bracken.
