The Needles

We left the group behind and caught the bus to Alum Bay to see The Needles Rocks. The weather had turned sunny and warm and it was beautiful walking on the cliff top. A Spitfire came over and circled us twice so we had our own flypast!

We went to the Old and New Batteries. Two forts, the New was where rockets were secretly tested for the Space race and the Old Battery a Victorian fort used in the two World Wars. This was a very interesting place with two huge guns rescues from the sea where they'd been for 80 years after being dumped there when the fort was closed.

A visit to the World War 2 themed tea room for tea and bread pudding finished a great day.
