BIG DAY ON THE MOUNTAIN....
.... today saw the running of the Bathurst 1000 V8 car race. A 161 lap race of the curcuit.
Car nut or not, this race holds a special place in the long history in Australia of touring car racing which started in 1960.
With the demise of car manufacture in Australia the race competition between the two main rivals Holden and Ford will surely take on a new face as this race continues.
Certainly not lacking in popularity with over 200,000 fans arriving at the Mount Panorama curcuit this year over the four days of racing culminating in the main race today. Have a look at the video in this link to do a hot lap in one of the V8's.
The curcuit now turns back into some sort of peace and quiet until next years race.
My pic today is from the TV (so not the best) showing car 888 (second car on left) the eventual winner.
Enjoy, and have a look in LARGE
... very much appreciate the tremendous response to yesterday's sunset, so pleased you liked it as well. And, all those favs really very kind, cheers.
