Cross on Church Hill, Alnmouth

Down to Alnwick this morning with the intention of looking at wall tiles and flooring for the bathroom. Failed miserably, as the shop closed 2 minutes before we arrived...

On to Alnmouth for a walk on the beach with Louie - though it was clear in Alnwick, the haar had come down on the coast and it was quite atmospheric. The blip shows the cross on Church Hill through the haar. (In the 18th century, Alnmouth was a busy port. But on Christmas Day 1806 a great storm changed the course of the River Aln, which began to flow between Church Hill and the main town. It also destroyed the remains of the church on the hill.)

Back to Alnwick for a light lunch and the supermarket shop. As we were about to get out of the car in the supermarket car park, we were lucky enough to see the last flying Vulcan bomber aircraft, flying quite low and almost overhead, as part of its farewell tour of the country.
