Postcard from Christchurch

.... Queen Vicrtora is not amused

This afternoon I took a walk around the city to get some shots of the artworks that are there for the Scape 8 festival. Scape 8 is a Public Art installs free-to-view contemporary public art in Christchurch city. The vision is for Christchurch people to be excited, engaged and stimulated by the contemporary public art that is well regarded and known by the national and international art world.

People living in Christchurch and New Zealand would have heard about the Artwork you can see the two shots of in the Avon of the rusty man called Stay. There was an outcry of the cost of it of this work by Anthony Gormley, creator of the UK's Angel. You can read about it in the link.

The big billboard is a artwork is called Under Construction- Chaos and Order by Peter Atkin. You can see that in the shot Bottom left.

The mens faces are from the work I Bliped last Saturday, by local Artist Hannah Kidd in the Re:START Mall called Avonside Drive.
The Middle Work is by local street artist Jacob Yikes

The work you can see in my thumbnail is Call me Snake by Judy Millar. I did a Blip with it on Thursday. You can also see a bit of it in the shot at the Bottom 2rd Right. I thought it looked strange coming up behind the runes with all the rusty bits to it.

Queen Victoria is Top Right and stands in Victoria Square. I didn't think she is very amused with all this modern art that is going up around the city just now.

The day was sunny but that cold wind just kept blowing and made it feel  really cold. Tomorrow is to be warmer.
