Blue-headed Wagtail
Following yesterday's female blackcap, today our garden has presented me with another avian first: this time it's a blue-headed wagtail (Motacilla flava flava). Not only is it the first I've ever seen, but I also caught several photos as it foraged around the surface of our garden pond. I'm guessing it found tasty bugs among the lily pads.
This tiny garden is like a mini bird sanctuary; our bungalow acting as an observation hide. Today, as well as this beauty, with its startlingly bright yellow plumage, I saw dunnocks, bluetit, thrush, blackbirds, wren, chaffinches and goldfinches. Got photos of all but the wren and goldfinches.
It's been another sunny, mild day. Loving this weather!
