EROS

When Loren announced he was was taking us to the EROS Centre today we were (naturally) a little shocked.
So was he when I asked if it was a sex shop.
Turns out it is the Earth Resources Observation and Science Centre.
Nevertheless it was still very interesting.
It is the world's main centre for receiving satellite data on changes to the earth's environment. It is an essential tool for monitoring climate change and all sorts of other things. There is even hope they may one day be able to predict earthquakes by studying subtle changes to things happening on the earth's surface.
If you thought this was a picture of an art gallery you aren't far out. They have displayed some very attractive images from outer space in the reception area.
The one John is admiring here is the Yukon Delta in Alaska. I thought it resembled some jaundiced blood cells as seen under a microscope. He thought it was more like a bit of brain tissue.
The one next to it is Algerian sand hills.
In any case they are both far superior to that blue square I posted the other day.

This evening Loren and Sheila took us to their lakeside weekender 45 miles from Sioux Falls where we enjoyed our first home cooked meal since leaving home.
