A Game of Soldiers.
Every year, the Scottish Beekeepers' Association organises a lecture tour by one of Britain's leading apiarists (and, incidentally, has an argument about where to put the apostrophe in its title; by their reckoning, I have got it wrong). The lectures are always very good; informative, without necessarily improving one's beekeeping skills. Knowing the details of a bee's anatomy, for example, fits into that category. The talk today was in Coldstream and was about the bee colony as a super organism and the one very useful gem buried in amongst the interesting facts was that there is a better design of polythene nucleus hive available than that in common use.
As I had arrived early, I took a stroll around the town and came across this shop window display which reminded me of one of HL's passions, HL being the spouse of the lovely Lady Findhorn, though I'm sure that he wouldn't think much of the craftsmanship.
