Waiting in the Sunshine (Day 154)

The heavy rain of yesterday disappeared overnight and the air was cool and crisp as my beautiful wife and I left the house at 5.40 to head for the 6.30 am ferry south. It was motorcycle test day for HV in Wick.
The ride there was chilly but it was sunny and that always makes a difference.
Unfortunately the bike that had been turned out by the instructor for HV to do the test on was totally un-roadworthy. Any MOT tester would have failed it without any hesitation. Front suspension fluid was pouring down the fork legs and dripping onto both of the front brake discs and the front tyre. The engine oil light flickered on and off. I was furious. I wouldn't have wanted to ride the bike, even though I have 20 odd years of riding experience behind me. Expecting someone with little experience to do a test on the bike was ludicrous. The instructor did show up with another bike, a minute before the test was due to start.
It was really not a great way to prepare for the test, and unsurprisingly HV clipped a cone and failed.
We gathered our thoughts and headed for the ferry home. Riding in great scenery and sunshine. At the ferry terminal I got HV to ride around on my bike for a while - a bit of a confidence boost. Then we both lazed around in the sunshine.
It has been a long old day, but good to be out on the bikes again.
