Bridges, spoons and egg cups
"Every decently-made object, from a house to a lamp post to a bridge, spoon or egg cup, is not just a piece of 'stuff' but a physical embodiment of human energy, testimony to the magical ability of our species to take raw materials and turn them into things of use, value and beauty."
Kevin McCloud
This bridge is among the longest truss bridges in Michigan with four truss spans and a deck plate girder. The bridge sits on attractive stone abutments and piers over the Grand River.
It's purpose is a pedestrian crossing well, connecting downtown Grand Rapids to Grand Valley State University and the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum. Their are ArtPrize exhibits all along it.
