Bern, Bärenplatz

Early morning in Bern and stall owners are installing themselves. Four days a week it is market day in Bern on the Bärenplatz (Bear Plaza). The name goes back to medieval times, when the scond city wall passed there and a walled off section became a bear pit. Today the bears are still in Bern, just a bit more outside as the city has grown since then. In the background the Swiss Federal Palace.
