Introducing No.7

No. 7 is my oldest. This is her being introduced at the starting setter for tonights varsity volleyball game.  She has played ball since fifth grade and would play everyday if she could.  She absolutely loves the game.  Earlier this fall she was cut from the program.  She was devastated.  It was one of those days when its tough to be a parent.

After all of the tears and meetings with the coach and the athletic director she accepted a position as team manager and statistician.  She went to every game and every practice.  

This past weekend, through injuries, illness, and insubordination the coach found she needed a setter and gave Shannon a jersey and a spot on the team.  Because two of the girls were in the doghouse for missing a tournament, she even got a start in the season's first home game.  She is over the moon excited to be a part of the team.  She didn't play a lot tonight and probably won't play much the rest of the season,  but her lesson in persistence will live on with many of her teammates and friends (and me!) for a long time.
