Mad Ramblings Of An Idiot

This is a skeleton of a cave bear (it stood 2.6m tall - over 8ft) found in Grotta Del Vento (the windy cave) just outside Gallicano in Tuscany.

The cave has an internal temperature that is always 10.7c due to an air chamber in the cave, in summer, the wind blowing out of the cave due to air pressure differences can reach 40kph.

Apparently, because the temperature is constant, the Italian locals built a shed on the entrance and used it as a giant fridge before the cave explorers got their hands on it.

Good place to visit, but the roads leading to the cave are, well, scenic but narrow. More interesting driving !
