Military Wives' Choir in Stirling!

Well, what a week it has been in Stirling for live musical experiences. Not only did we have the Big Concert with the Venezuelan Simon Bolivar Orchestra and the Big Noise schoolchildren's orchestra broadcast by the BBC from Stirling's Raploch Estate on Thursday, but today we had a wing of the Military Wives' Choir, the Military Wives and Girlfriends Choir from the Army base at Catterick Barracks in Yorkshire, performing live at Stirling's Armed Forces Support Day. They sang for half an hour in cold and windy conditions, accompanied by lovely harp and piano, including their well-known chart song, "Wherever you are". These guys were also involved in the recording of the Jubilee single, led by Gary Barlow. The two bagpipers in the picture also accompanied the choir on renditions of "Amazing grace" and "Flower of Scotland". After their performance, they were photographed, here, with the man who may be Britain's oldest surviving war veteran, 106 year old Lt. Col. Frank Saunders, former Royal Engineer, who is resident here in Stirling. Quite a few members of the choir that I sing with, the Heart of Scotland choir, were in the audience, enjoying watching fellow choral performers!
