The Most Expensive Bridge In........
Montana in 1922.
The original bridge was built in 1896.
In 1908 a massive flood heavily damage the bridge but repairs were made to make it usable.
1919 the Montana State Highway Commission agreed to pay half of the cost of a new bridge. The County raised the funds for the other half.
1922 This bridge is completed at the cost of $110,000. The most expensive bridge built in Montana at the time. It will go on to carry traffic on U.S. Highway 10 for the next three decades. Highway 10 ran from Detroit, Michigan to Ludington, Michigan (A ferry ran at times across the lake) and then from Manitowoc, Wisconsin to Seattle, Washington.
Easy day but going to be a long night. Headed to a small town near the Canadian border north of Great Falls, Montana.
