Stash

As requested here is my stash from today. It was a most successful mission and we all had a good amount to show and tell. I mostly got fibres for spinning and some cotton for weaving too.

Going clockwise the grey fibres are all Gotland carded lambs wool which will be lovely to spin. I got some last year and really enjoyed working with it.

The red is a blend of 60% merino, 30% blue faced leicester and 10% sari silk which I will ply with gorgeously rich red silk brick. The little bag of purple and gold is fancy fibres for felting, I think I will try and make a tufty cuff with them during the holidays when I have time to play.

I bought the dark purple silk to ply with the purple/grey called Night Fever which is a blend of Blue Faced Leicester, Merino and Alpaca with just a hint of sparkle. The lovely caramel coloured fibre at the bottom is camel & tussah silk, I had wanted a natural toned fibre to ply with something I had already spun but I can't for the life of me remember what!

I was so pleased with the massive vintage bobbin with the sherbet coloured merino and silk, I had eyed them up last year but hit that stall when funds were low, luckily this year they were one of the first we visited so I bought it straight away to save me having to track back later wishing I had bought it. I am planning on plying it with the fuchsia cotton.

The pink and green cones of cotton are for weaving and might make a nice patterned scarf. The pink, orange and green plait reminds me of a sweetie that I can't remember the name of, something like fruit salad maybe. It's merino, silk and sparkle and the other plait is merino and cashmere. The wee bobbins of cotton are for weaving too, I even got silver to try a hint of sparkle in a nice light scarf.

I'm so glad wooliest falls just before the summer holidays as it means I have plenty of time to play with all my goodies.
