Fall Festival Bounty
Today was the last day of the weekend's annual Aaronsburg Fall Festival and I believe that I can state with all confidence that a great time was had by all.
Yesterday was rainy and blustery but today the sun made a grand appearance mid-afternoon and bathed the whole town in welcomed warmth. The community park was alive with children playing, dogs walking and adults enjoying music from a country/gospel band while indulging in homemade hearty soups, fresh baked goods and various apple treats and libations.
Aaronsburg's main street was hopping as well with various yard sales, food concessions and this produce stand, overflowing with colorful Autumn fruits and veggies. I loved the way the collection of pumpkins, butternut squash and chrysanthemums were bathed in dappled sunlight as I was passing by.
Autumn in the country glade
The russets and the gold,
The song of early crickets
In the leafy knoll takes hold,
There’s a brilliance in the crispness
In the piles of windblown leaves
And the healthy crunch of underfoot
Invokes a sense of ease.
The peacefulness is calming
The solace in the sound
Of the distant song of blackbird
In the tall oaks that surround
And the velvet feel of morning
Thrills the mind to warmly hum
To the glory of occasion
In the warmth of Autumn sun.
