All about the bass
Today had little plans and in stark contrast to yesterday we managed to over achieve on them. This may be the secret.
This was Anna doing her double bass practise. She both has a lot more now and is far more inspired to do so. We have also managed to come up with a system for helping her. She's always been full of good intentions but not always been so good at following through on them. The combination of all of the above seems to be making a big difference and the improvement in her playing after only a few weeks is incredible. Even to my ignorant ear! The whole thing has also inspired Carlos who is not only playing lots more himself has now started murmuring about getting himself a bass.
Other morning activities included a run (yes, I'm still calling it that), a dog and boy walk and some domestic chores.
This afternoon saw me and Anna on a big bedroom planning trip to IKEA. If anyone is any doubt that money is flowing around our economy or is wondering where it all is I suggest you visit IKEA Wembley. The numbers were quite overwhelming. We did manage to do all the information gathering we needed and buy the requisite random items (no, no tea lights - I know, playing fast and loose with the space-time continuum).
Meanwhile J had a friend visit and returning home to the sound of raucous laughter from the den was simply lovely. Being sad is both hard and unhelpful. Focusing on the positives and distracting yourself with good things is hard but at least worthwhile. Being able to just be happy with no effort at all is really rather excellent.
