Royal Mills....
Well the inaugural Manchester Curious Festival drew to a close the afternoon with the last few events. And it all seems to have gone well. The tours have been gratifyingly full and the feed back we have got has been positive.
I was on a tour of Piccadilly Basin this afternoon. It was touch and go if I would make it. The city was chaos this afternoon with the trams disrupted and streets closed as I don't know how many people demonstrated along Oxford Road (see extra picture). Something to do Dave and his mates having a meeting in the Midland I think.
I found myself on the wrong side of Oxford Road as the demonstration went past. I had no choice than to excuse myself and push through the protest. And I got to Piccadilly Basin in time. The tour took us from Carver's Warehouse to Ancoats and then on to New Islington where it sort of ended where the Tom Bloxham tour ended on Friday.
I like the contrast between old and new architecture so was pleased with this picture of the new apartment block and the Royal Mills, also now apartments. And a typically dazzlingly blue Manchester sky. If you didn't get chance to come to any of this year's tours, it looks like it will be happening next year and it's a great opportunity to use your cameras.
