fallow deer

At Wentworth Castle today. This autumn I really want to go and see the red deer that are really in the wild on Eastern Moors...and I will...hopefully. However today I did some work and then didn't fancy the fiddly drive from here to there so I went for the easy option at Wentworth Castle. I had a fab few hours. Lots of red and fallow deer, bellowing strutting and so on with an 'almost rut' where the biggest stag bellowed like mad and demanded that all the ladies leave the younger stag and join him. They did, and for a few brief seconds I thought I was standing in front of a rut...that didn't happen, just 2 very angry stags. The youngest of which left alone.....Great to watch though :)
