Acacia glaucoptera

Most of our wattles are finished by October, but this one I discovered when visiting friends living on a beautiful rural block some 30km from home. They have done everything to enhance the natural beauty of their surroundings of very old eucalypts and various acacias. I regret I left my camera at home so had to cut this sample. The blue/grey foliage is unique in that rather than leaves it has wing like phyllodes and are of very flat structure. The globular flowers emerge along the central stem. The extra gives a better idea of the structure of this amazing WA native (although in this case is growing locally). A sumptuous meal outdoors, in spite of the 30 degree heat, beautiful wine and great conversation with old friends. A fabulous afternoon.
