Clouds over Cloudy Bay
Gale force winds over the South Island today have made for dangerous driving conditions. Many high vehicles were pulling off the roads, including caravans and camper vans; hard on the tourists. It made for scarey driving. I haven't heard if there's been damage to houses but I wouldn't be surprised.
PS - There was a campervan blown over on the road near Lake Tekapo, with a woman injured and flown to hospital - that would have been a horrible situation. Yes, houses damaged, trees blown onto power lines, and people all over the place without power. I believe the winds are forecast to continue too.
