Slime Mould

Walked along the brook this morning with the dog, who wasn't happy as some of it had been fenced off for restoration work. This meant she had to spend some of the walk on dry land. This slime mould (Myxomycete) was in good condition with a bright colour. Slime Moulds used to be part of the fungi kingdom but I believe they now in the kingdom Protozoa. I'm not aware they have common names as yet, this one I think is Fuligo septica var. flava.
