A Stream of Kowhai on the Kowhai Stream

After a busy day doing  a part spring clean, part reorganisation of the kitchen, I decided to take Jack or a walk down the Kowhai Stream before we headed round to our neighbours place for dinner.

It's been a stunning spring day in the foothills; the westerly flow bumping the temperature into the 20's, it could almost pass for a day in the beginning of December, let alone October.

At this time of year, as you walk down the its dry bed, it's easy to see why the Kowhai Stream has its name; its rocky creek bed fringed by the yellow flowered trees which ring to the sound of bellbirds and buzz with bees.

Instead of taking a photo of the bedecked trees, I decided to focus  near my feet, so today's blip features the yellow petals of the one of the kowhai strewn across the dry stream bed.

Early start in the morning as we head down into the village to watch England play Australia in the Rugby World Cup. It's going to be epic.
