Fuzzy Youngster
Today was a very long day with Husband and I spending several hours in Rochester. We had a nice enjoyable lunch, meeting with my mother-in-law and some old friends of ours. Then we were off to attend to errands for s few hours.
We stopped near the Irondequoit Bay for a bit where I discovered a young couple feeding ducks, geese, and a swan. I should have switched out lenses before getting out of the car, but left on the telephoto.
It was interesting watching the birds.....it was obvious that the swan was out of sorts, as it walked around with its head bent low the entire time I was there. At one point, the thing attacked a young gosling and grabbed it by the neck.
The young man grew so angry, he shouted at the swan and went after it, causing it to drop the poor unsuspecting gosling! The young man's girlfriend told the fellow the bird was so big, he had better watch out! His reply was that if that swan made one more move like that, we "ladies" would be treated to a wrestling match!
The photo I chose is one of the younger sets of goslings. There were several sets of goslings and it was hard to discern which ones belonged where! There was a lot of hissing and snaking along the grass, and truthfully, I was a little concerned about being "goosed" in my skirt!
Thankfully, I was left alone! I used to have geese, so I can still "read" them fairly well. Most of the hissing was, in fact, at other geese, and especially that bully swan!
