In Colonia del Sacramento, Uruguay
Thankfully we did find the laundry, alcohol pharmacy and supermarket, as well as a bank. Instead of the reinforced doors and guard armed with a big gun they had in Quito, here they have a bell on the door and an old man lets in in one at a time - very relaxed in comparison.
We collected our washing this morning - I'll be walking around smelling of the powerful sickly conditioner, but I suppose that has be be better for those around me than the alternative.
Walking up the street we saw a glamorous young couple coming towards us, looking pleased to see us - they shook hands and we realised they had been at the table behind us at the tango evening - we'd wished her happy birthday when she got champagne and cake. They are from Spain, on the way to Patagonia.
At breakfast we met a couple from Brazil - he had the most wonderful short dreads. She is a lawyer who tries to find where supposedly bankrupt companies have stashed their funds to retrieve it for their employees who are owed wages. A case can take 5 years.
The weather has changed and it is cold. We walked in the old town, blipped above - it certainly us quaint and relaxing here!
The Maugret car has been here a while.
