Different approaches
The idea was for HH to do some exercises while I shopped at the market, but there was competition from resting market workers.
The house seemed very quiet today, with Chiara gone. Now it’s up to us to see how soon, and whether, we can get back to a ‘normal’ life. There’s so much to sort out, hard to know where to start.
C called from Amsterdam and told us all about her flight – well, perhaps not quite all. From the sound of it, she had the whole crew mobilized to keep her calm; spoke once to the Captain and the co-pilot came to tell her every time turbulence was expected. If we’d been there, we’d have had to deny all knowledge of her! Anyway, the KLM crew came up trumps. Strange how this fear of flying can take hold of one. She’s been flying, mostly with KLM, since she was tiny. We even have a photo of her and her sister in KLM jackets, serving drinks on a flight from Chile – I’m sure that wouldn’t be allowed these days!
She called us again from Heathrow , reunited with her husband and tucking into a brownie and Costa coffee. I guess she thinks she’s back in civilization. From there, they were going to pick up their son from school . Back to normal for them too – but we’re so grateful to both our lovely daughters for reorganizing their lives to give us this precious time together, and for all their help.
