Blake Pier
Apart from looking for butterflies one objective of my trip to Hong Kong has been to find things or places that my great-grandfather would have recognised. Blake Pier is one of the few survivors, although it wasn't in Stanley in his time. The original (1900) pier was at the end of Pedder Street in Central district of Hong Kong. The pier was demolished in 1965, but the pavilion roof was reused as a park shelter in Wong Tai Sin. The renovated structure was relocated to Stanley in 2006 where it stands next to Murray House which my great grandfather would also have known when it was used as officer's quarters in Central.
