Il Collosseo d'Alberto
Back in the Victorian arena of sound tonight for another rendition by prog.rock supremo Steven Wilson.
His latest band did a fantastic job of playing the new stuff, and some of the old, but chose a rather eclectic collection of older chaotic songs in the middle. As usual he pumped up the volume too hard at the end, rendering classics like Lazarus a bit pained, but it was on the whole an improvement on previous concerts at the hall. I think he might just be getting the hang of it.
I was joined by fellow blippers, Houblon and Storksrock, and beloved friends, P&S H-C for this auditory feast.
Incidentally, the support band was Matt Berry and his troupe, who gave us a slightly rushed introduction to their repertoire. They even managed a splendid prog'ist piece themselves: Solstice. In fact, so good I had to purchase the song this very afternoon.
