The day started with the most spectacular sunrise (see extra blip) followed by a leisurely walk of 1.5km down the beach, and through the tide, to a fantastic little restaurant ..... quite a find.

Zakynthos Fact #5 - Two National poets were born on the island: Dionisios Solomos (Greece, the Dante of Zante) and Ugo Foskolo (Italy). In 1823 Dionisios Solomos wrote the Greek National Anthem on a hill gazing across the sea, listening to cannon-fire of the Greek Civil War. The anthem, Hymn to Liberty, is the longest national anthem in the world, with 158 verses. It is performed, (or at least the first 3 verses ..... phew!) at the closing ceremony of each Olympic Games.
