You couldn't make it up!!!

What a day!!!! Well afternoon to be precise! It almost felt like we were living in a Sit-com!!!

It all started at 3.15pm ........ Hubby had a Doctor's appointment so we went to get in the car to go ....... turned the key ........ NOTHING ..... it was as 'dead as a Dodo'! Back indoors to ring a taxi ..... explained had appointment at 3.30pm ...... would send car asap. While we waited Hubby phoned Doctor's to explain ..... only to be told they hold appointments for 10 minutes only regardless of cause! Taxi arrived just after 3.30 ...... should still make it ....... got half way there ....... hit the back of the traffic! Inched along then turned off to try another route ....... got three quarters of the way ...... then ...... you've guessed it ...... hit the back of the traffic. This time it's not even moving! Hubby got out & hurried off, made it just in the nick of time. I paid & caught him up. We then waited for the doctor ...... finally got in & back out. All okay just after effects of food poisoning ..... should clear shortly.

We then walked to the Supermarket to do the weekly shopping. Got out with 15 minutes to spare before the bus was due. Waited at the bus stop ...... & waited ...... & waited ........ no bus!!!!! Gave up at 5.20pm & rang for a taxi. Got home ...... put perishable shopping away in the fridge ...... left the rest for later.

Arranged with next door neighbour to try giving the car a 'jump start' ....... but her car had the strangest battery we have ever seen ...... it only had one connection point ...... so scrap that idea! Next we decided to try a 'push start' ....... somehow I got volunteered to be in the car ....... tried pushing ....... 1st try nothing ........ 2nd try success!!! At least we had it running ...... by this time it was almost 6pm.

Next headed off to Halfords in the hope they were still open ....... we got halfway there & hit the back of the traffic! Think there's a theme developing here!!! Finally inched forward enough to head round the back way ........ arrived & hooray ....... it was still open!

The chap tested the battery (it was 10 years old) ....... said there was definitely a problem with it ........ but not sure if it was more than that as the car wouldn't start again to complete the test! Best thing to replace battery then run a full test to see if all okay. He fitted the new battery ....... turned the key ....... SUCCESS! It started ...... yeah!!!!! He ran the full test ...... the problem had been the old battery ..... it had been leaking charge!

Went & paid ..... came out ...... turned the key & yeah it started!!! Headed home ...... reached the level crossing just has the barriers came down ..... we just sat & laughed ....... you really couldn't make it up!! Got home without any more hold-ups or mishaps ...... put away the rest of the shopping ........ ate & collapsed!!!!
