The Art of Sneaking Off
I am a bad parent.
After doing this for 20 years I believe I have perfected the art of "sneaking off".
It began with showing up at concerts, being seen, watching the orchestra and then in the intermission pretending to go to the loo but really sneaking off for dinner before the band and chorus played.
It has culminated today in going to freshman orientation at UMBC, staying till the part where students and parents go in different directions to "enjoy" their orientation programmes, then sneaking off home, shopping and going out for lunch before getting back to UMBC in time to attend the student parent reunion and to gush about how wonderful and informative the day has been.
I have perfected the art of fibbing too :)
Here is a nice quiet spot I found with free wi-fi at UMBC so I could blip while I waited for Kate.
