Near Dymchurch
Thank you everyone for your comments on my 1000th blip yeterday. I must confess I'd miscalculated the date and thought it was today. As we had planned to go out cycling today I had an idea for a 1000th blip shot involving bicycle wheels and a person standing near the front wheel, but it was not to be so you had to make do with this shot from the prom at Dymchurch.
It was an ideal day for windsurfing I would say, strong constant wind from the north east, which made it very challenging for the last 7 miles of our ride as we were pedalling into it all the way along the sea defence walls. It's a journey we've done several times, usually with the wind behind us but we paid for it this time.
Mind you, the other 28 miles were pretty good, with the wind either behind or from the side. Romney Marsh is a great area for cycling, when the atmospheric conditions are favourable, as it is flat, mostly around 2 metres and is covered by a myriad of small lanes.
Our first stop is the Lathe Barn tea rooms at Donkey Street for coffee and scone, then it was some hard pedalling to New Romney where we stopped at the station there on the Romney Hythe and Dymchurch Railway for more supplies. We were hoping for a hot meal but arrived 5 minutes too late. We had sandwiches while watching the trains come and go.
Then it was time for the epic journey along the sea defences back to West Hythe. Good job it was flat, that's all.
A long wallow in the bath was followed by a glass or two of wine and a Chinese takeway to round off a great day.
