End of the Season

You can just feel the distant breath of winter in the cool of the mornings and the chill of the evenings. But today was a beautiful autumn day with temperatures touching 26C.

It was my first day out in the car after my operation, and I took it gingerly up winding roads into the hills well above St. Céré, to the picturesque little village where friends Dennis and Naomi live. We were invited for lunch and ate al fresco in the garden before wandering down through the village to sit on a bench outside the church overlooking the hills and valleys below.

A splendid day, finished off when I got home with a radio interview by phone with Entertainment Weekly in New York and the delightful Tina Jordan.

Feeling better and stronger everyday.
