your moment to shine!

Well our friend, Mike certainly did shine this morning as he made his way down from Kendal Castle as the first torchbearer of the day. So did the many, many faces up early as they watched this once in a lifetime occasion. However the sun certainly didn't - torrential rain and gale force winds - summer my foot!

The kids were so wet that we had to return home for a complete change of clothes before school and I hardly changed out of my wellies all day.

Great North Swim has now been cancel for Saturday - hoping Sunday will still go ahead as the eldest child is in it. Not sure if the school fete will happened now tomorrow - there are only so many sodden strawberries and cream you can consume!

When I signed up for living in England, I was promised there was a summer every year. You just aren't fooling me with this weather - its warmer in the middle of winter back where I come from!
