Colorado
At Helen's request we started the day with a wine tasting at Palisade and purchased several bottles of Colorado wine..
Next we drove to Aspen and saw how the rich and famous live.
No snow yet but the town seemed quite busy. We were in need of coffee but although there were plenty of restaurants the only coffee shop we could find was a Starbucks.
Lots of very up market shops (eg Dior) and I was very excited to come upon a gallery exhibiting Ansell Adams. Unfortunately it was closed but I could see through the window. So I missed snapping up a small print for $50,000.
That seemed a bargain compared to the shop next door. I will attempt to upload an extra of a blue 2ft square selling for $375,000. (The reflection you may be able to see in it is me and another painting, not some clever art work).
As evidence that they are having a lend of us, Helen spotted another grey square with "PROOF" written on it and costing more than the apartment she has recently purchased in Sydney.
After Aspen we drove along the Independence Pass through magnificent autumn colours and to an altitude of 12,000ft (3,600m).
Tonight we are staying at Leadville which looks about as differed from Aspen as you could get. We haven't seen it in daylight yet but it seems like a real Wild West town.
Dinner was a cheapie picnic in our cheapie motel room.
