A view through a vacuum viewport at a sample located at the centre of an 8-pole vector electromagnet. Frustratingly the sample is off-centre, but I'm sure none of you noticed. The setup is used to study magnetic states and interactions in ultrathin (meaning nanometers) metal films. One day it will be in your computer!! (maybe)
