Stranger in the night

This little guy only seems to be around at night on the corner of my balcony.  I just went out and he had his web all built again and was sitting there waiting to pounce.  

Of course, I'm afraid of spiders so I wasn't willing to take the time to get any lighting right, I just took it with the flash and when I did that he ran, so I ran too.  He was pretty big compared to what I normally see around here, of course being afraid of spiders, I'd say he was as big as a Cadillac, but then I know that would be a slight exaggeration but he was about an inch across including his legs.. which for me is HUGE.

When he ran, I couldn't see where he went because it was dark and I was terrified because I knew he was close but I couldn't see him so I came inside.  I sure hope he didn't come in with me.

Maybe he will be there another day when it's light so I can get a better picture of him.  I'm not venturing out there again in the dark. 

And here I thought I was getting over my fear of spiders.   I moved faster today when it ran away than I have in a long time.
