First day of holidays on Zakynthos, a delightful Greek Island in the Ionian Sea. Thankfully, we are not part of the party-island crowd and find that, generally, we bring down the average age of fellow holidaymakers. Beautiful moon tonight.

Zakynthos Fact #1 - In 1800–1801, Britain attempted to take control of the Ionian islands. It was conquered in 1809 and Zakynthos was part of the British protectorate of the United States of the Ionian Islands from 1815 to 1864. However, in more recent times, Thomas Cook seems to have regained control.
