FRESH CONKERS
It's that time of year again - picked up a pocketful off the pavement outside La Maison Communale on my way home - couldn't resist - they're just so perfect.
French is a strange language - they call conkers "marrons". Chestnuts, they call "châtaignes", until they're cooked that is - then they're called "marrons"... "Marrant" means funny!
But then the French put "la voiture" dans "le garage" which seems perverted - or should that be inverted?
