Oh what a night!!

BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA dissertations and exams what?! We've worked hard and even after just 24hours we've most definitely played hard!!

Waking up at 2:30am - Bad times - big shout out to Melody's brother Mark Wilson for getting up so early to take us to Leeds!! LEGEND!

Melody breaking her bag 1 minute after walking outside the airport door in Corfu - Bad times

BUT this is where the bad times definitely ends -Once we left the aircraft we were hit by the 37 degree sun - a slight contrast to the 14 degrees and rain we left in England! We were picked up by a man about town in our very own BRIGHT PINK full size coach! Yes just a Dwelody...on a massive bright pink coach! On our arrival to this amazing hostel - The Pink Palace - we were handed a pink ouzo shot and taught how to yell YASSAS! (cheers)...very important to get that right...so we practised a lot.

We were given the news that alcohol prices are extortionate here at 1 euro for a pint and 2.5 euros for a cocktail that consists of 1cm of mixer - made long island ice teas an interesting experience as you will find out later!
We were also told unfortunately although we paid for a 5 bed dorm room we were going to stay in our own private room...with a balcony...and a view of the sea...what a shame!

Dumped bags, bikini - check!, sun lotion - check! - TO THE BEACH! - our own private beach...bummer (see picture). Lying there we couldn't help but randomly burst into laughter at how perfect life is in comparison to the hell hole of the uni IT lab funsies which has taken over our loves for the last 4 months - especially rubbish when staring up through the lab's tiny window and a gleam of sunshine...NOT ANYMORE BAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

So swimming and sunbathing, then eating at a beachside bar - watermelon for Dwyer, cheese for Melody (standard) with fit crusty bread and REAL olive oil, and a baileys iced coffee each...NOM - bit of a bog standard day really, decided we would rock up to the hostels own night club for some funsies in the evening so - FREE dinner ensued where some wonderful individuals were introduced to the craziness of Dwelody. And who served dinner to us? Chloe Madge - the sister of Melody's old school friend who she hadn't seen for 8 years since they moved to Australia?!?! CORRECT!! Ridiculously small world!!

Some more cocktails were made by the wonderful Nick (Jason Donovan Look-a-like) including 'Nick's Special Cocktail' which was particularly tasty! (No pun). A drinking pool game ensued (standard), Melody won (....standard? NOT) thanks to the help of her German counterpart!

Laura, an Australian beaut we met, made the mistake of telling Melody that she loved karaoke, and that there was a karaoke bar around the corner!! So off we went! It would be fair to say that the 6 of us owned the place!....(By the way...Dwyer will be now continuing this blog as Melody + cocktails = little memory indeed! Despite this, she still sang about 20 songs! Even though her renditions were... let's just say... slightly off?... her serenading to Dwyer bought a tear to her eye! To top it off, Melody and Dwyer and 2 new recruits (Kim and Laura) formed together for a Spice Girls song... again... tuning was a bit patchy!! Don't think Simon Cowell will be ringing anytime soon to form a new girl band! Oh and we must mention about the 2 English men who decided to be back-up dancers to "You can leave your hat on" by gyrating in their boxers! In hindsight... probably not the best song choice by Laura!

Finally, Melody however does remember having a dip in the sea (NOT skinny dipping she kept some dignity with her underwear on!... Love you Mum!)

So all in all... pretty fantastic first night of the tour despite just the teeny weeny (?!) headaches this morning. However, if this is what the first night is like, God knows what will happen over the next 4 weeks! Must leave you now, the sunshine and another cocktail are calling our names (Hair of the dog and all that!)

Lots of love,

Dwelody xx
