City of Dunedin

A beautiful day in Dunedin.

Image taken from the lookout on Signal Hill.  The 'bump', hill in the background is called Saddle Hill - it does look like a saddle from some view points.
The swathe of green cutting across the city is known as the green belt and was specifically planned by the founding fathers who felt that as Dunedin grew it would need a dividing character to shelter and screen the city from the suburbs and provide a cleansing factor and a haven for local fauna within the native trees and shrubs.
