Family Tradition

It was a big occasion today with the christening of my youngest granddaughter - Amelia Anne Marie.  Amelia is wearing the christening robe I made many years ago for her Aunty Alison, my first baby; Ali is the one on the left of the image and godmother to Amelia. Ali's husband, James and also godparent, is standing next to her - Amelia was born on his birthday last November.  The same robe was worn by Fay, Amelia's mum, my son Edward, all Ali's children and Sophie, Amelia's sister.  Fay is now the official 'keeper of the robe' until such time as it is passed on to the next family member to require it.

The service was lovely, albeit a little modern for those of us brought up in the more traditional Church of England style.  Afterwards we had a lovely gathering at a local pub with food, wine and, of course, the traditional christening cake - photo added as an extra (not made by me).
