flying fish...
...and staying with the Bellingham salmon story but now in Portland.
First stop on the long haul home and what a great little airport!
Live music, small batch tastings for those up to it at 8am, a sign on the floor by the big wooden clock saying Canberra is 12000+km away (eeeeeek, so Perth is another 4000 on top of that!) and a shoe shine (extra).
Avery the shoe shine guy was doing a great business (though Cons don't take to shining) and posed for a second between customers while telling me his girlfriend is from Melbourne!
Anyway back to the fish, this is a Salmon-Three-Salmon and the largest flying fish in the world, taking me and a shoal of tiddlers to LA.
LAX the complete opposite to Portland airport...huge, chaotic, rambling, a tad grubby and generally unhelpful! The International Airport is NOT a five minute walk and not 'turn right' at gate 4 :)
However, finally in the terminal and a comfy chair for many hours before the super long haul to Melbourne.
