Jewels in the Sunshine

Another perfect day - wall to wall blue skies.  Warmth bringing out winged wonders such as this Tortoiseshell butterfly.

Feeling dull and achy - just a cold - took the edge off the pleasure but I still managed a short walk this afternoon between various outings for Dad's taxi.  With a little help from her friends Ruth completed the printing, folding and enveloping of 300 copies of the Trackside newsletter that she edits.  Trackside goes out to all the young members (up to 16) of the Talyllyn Railway Preservation Society.  The stories of fun activities reported by young people are a great way to draw families into becoming active members.  Tonight was the TRPS AGM which includes elections to Council who lead the society.  Very encouraging that there were 14 candidates for the nine places, many of them under the age of 35.  The average age of council members fell by over 10 years tonight - a very healthy state of affairs!

The AGM was held in The Magic Lantern - Tywyn Cinema and afterwards we enjoyed a film show which included The Titfield Thunderbolt and Railway with a Heart of Gold.  The latter was shot in 1953 on the Talyllyn and says all that is needed to explain why I come here.  Follow the link for a rare treat.
