Le Metro

Sir T on his way back to the hotel after a fab night out at a fantastic little restaurant we stumbled on totally by chance in Paris. Here for a couple of days to celebrate our 9th wedding anniversary tomorrow. Its our first trip away from the children. Had major wobbles about leaving them (most definitely NOT because of who was looking after them!!) on Sunday night, but we made it safely onto the Eurostar about 8.30 this morning after a 4.30am start from home. We arrived in Paris at lunchtime and found our hotel in Montmartre, which is fantastic. We grabbed baguettes and pastries and climbed up to the Sacre Coeur and sat outside on the grass having lunch and people watched for a bit. Then climbed the dome for some amazing views and first spot of the Eiffel Tower. After a few drinks in the square, watching the artists at work, we were both feeling a little flaky after our early start and climbing those 300 steep steps up the dome so we went back to the hotel for an afternoon nap.

This evening we headed to the Notre Dam area for dinner. We'd checked trip advisor for restaurant recommendations in the area. The cathedral was looking very beautiful all lit up but am already getting fed up of people waving flaming selfie sticks around already! We couldn't find the restaurant we were looking for, but instead found an amazing one 'Comme Chai Toi'. It was packed, all with locals so we knew it had to be good and it didn't look like they were going to be able to fit us in until a large table, who we later found out were on a works night out, all shuffled up so we could squeeze on a tiny table in the corner. But it was perfect. The food, wine, service and atmosphere were just amazing.
