Malham Tarn, Orchid House and Ingleton.
As it was a perfect warm sunny Autumn Saturday, after doing our housework, Paul and me decided to visit Malham Tarn and Ingleton.
I had a leaflet from a food and gift shop called Country Harvest, and it said where the Dales meet the Lakes, so sounded ideal.
I packed my new Tesco fold up rucksack, made sure the camera batteries were working, and off we went.
It is a 40 minute drive from Rishton.
We treated ourselves to three wonderful cheese, a local cheddar, Maryhill, a Harrogate delicious blue cheese and a soft red cheese made with Snowdonian milk. These were enjoyed for teatime with oatcakes and salad, instead of our traditional homemade pizzas.
We walked in beautiful woodland, alongside Malham Tarn, as far as Orchid House which is used by university students who carry out tastes on the water quality and research the wildlife and birds in the area.
I loved the neatly made dry stone walls and the tall beech trees.
We had lunch at 3pm, by which time we had driven to Ingleton, and sat outside a lovely tea shop with a selection of crafts and cakes.
We had Earl Grey tea and I had a veggie burger and salad with great chips.Paul had a ham salad and chips.
Then we walked to Ingleton Pottery, a fascinating working pottery with a tempting display of reasonably priced wares.
We might go again before Christmas.
I have included the leaflet in my blip and their web address is www.ingletonpottery.co.uk.
We were very blessed to enjoy sunny weather followed by low clouds but no downpours.
I am avoiding watching Dr. Who as the music alone is quite unsettling to the sensitive soul.
I watch Casualty none the less, but I usually listen more than actually watch.
