Windswept

Mum has been talking for weeks about going to the farm with the small sourdough bakery and wood fire oven, and today we did! I don't know for a fact that it is an expedition until I jump out of the car and find my paws hitting foreign soil, but as soon as I do, I am ready to go all in.

We started out by going for a walk over the now harvested and plowed fields. Well, we stuck to the tiny tractor roads or we would have gotten very muddy, but still. You wouldn't believe how many scent trails there were, crisscrossing our path. Mainly deer. Oh, I would have loved to follow one, if mum had just let me. Then we bought eggs from a refrigerator in an outhouse - they are just the nicest eggs ever! And then we went to eat at the tiny café, which is, in my opinion, the best part of the visit.

Mum got a beet-sheep cheese-honey-walnut sandwich and a sugar and vanilla bun to go with her coffee. She had my full attention. No sooner had we sat down than a black and white CAT started to charm mum into cuddling it or, for all I know, give it food from her plate. I was in disbelief. It went on its way, however, and I ended up getting a small piece of cheese and some absolutely delicious vanilla bun. Yay! We finished with a walk through the asparagus forest, and a visit to the chickens and their cock, who didn't seem to approve of my presence.
