Russia Day 11 - Summer Palace

This is part of the exterior of the Summer Palace of Catherine the Great near St Petersburg. It a lavish building with glittering gold walls and ornamentation. Much of the design was by Charles Cameron , a Scottish architect.
After our visit we returned to the city for a walking tour of this quite stunning place, with magnificent architecture. Quite a day finished with a performance of Russian music and Cossack dancing
