Glasgow's Door's Open Day

This is the grand staircase in Fairfield Shipbuilders, Govan (complete with cheeky chappy giving the thumbs up!)

It's was amazing to find out that, at the start of the last century, there were 32 shipbuilders on the Upper Clyde, each employing between 3,000 and 9,000 men. I know other UK cities can boast the same shipbuilding heritage.

What a shame it's all gone now.

I snapped this shot as part of Glasgow's Doors Open Day, a brilliant event.

EXTRA PHOTOS: Corridor in Fairfield yard; the Panopticon music hall; and the Trades Hall.

Weather: cloudy then heavy rain in evening; jumper weather; dull; 13 degrees c; pleasant enough
